3 consejos para escoger tus vinos en Fiestas Patrias

September is here and with it the inevitable menu to celebrate another year of our country, where of course a good wine cannot be missing from our table. But it is not always easy to choose a label to accompany our preparations, since there are hundreds of options that we have in our renowned wine country and it is easy to get lost in the aisles.

Here are 3 tips for choosing the wines that will best accompany your Fiestas Patrias preparations:

    1. Define what your preparations will be :

The best way is to plan what we will eat and based on that, look for the strain that best accompanies our dishes. We leave you some suggestions here.

    • Pairing Empanada de Pino : a must-have for the 18th century table, which tempts many with its juicy pine and perfect balance between meat and onion. Whether with minced or ground meat, our suggestion is that you accompany your empanadas de pino with our Don Matías Carmenere, since its aromatic notes of black pepper, spices and a rich, balanced acidity will harmonize perfectly with this icon of 18th century gastronomy.

    • Pairing grilled meat : If we say grilled meat, it doesn't make as much sense as when we say "let's have a barbecue!". The best thing to do on this date: gather around the grill and wait for the cut we chose to cook juicy and to perfection. For this type of preparation, we recommend a Cabernet Sauvignon. Ideal for grilled meats? Our Dama de Plata wine. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, this is an elegant Cabernet Sauvignon, with aromatic notes of ripe red fruits and a great balance between wood and fruit on the palate.

    • Seafood preparations : In addition to being a wine-producing country, Chile is fortunate to have a long coastline that allows for fresh seafood all year round. If you want to include seafood as part of your options, such as a starter of locos with green sauce, we recommend a Sauvignon Blanc like our Gota de Luna. The unique terroir of the Malleco Valley gives us a fresh wine, with citrus notes and a balanced acidity that will harmonize with the freshness of the green sauce, providing a juiciness in the mouth that will enrich the flavor.

    1. Calculate how many people will participate in the meal :

A 750 ml bottle is enough for about 6 glasses. Since there will likely be fewer people at the party this year, we recommend 375 ml bottles, which are enough for 3 glasses. This way, you won't leave open bottles with wine you won't drink.

    1. Drink responsibly and in moderation :

Okay, this isn't a tip for choosing your wines, but rather for enjoying these Fiestas Patrias following a healthy lifestyle. Remember to always accompany your drink with food and a glass of water. Pregnant women and minors should not consume alcohol. If you are going to drink, don't drive!
