Vendimia 2022: un año de grandes vinos en Cousiño Macul
A few weeks ago we finished a new harvest in Cousiño Macul. A harvest that, after two years of strict sanitary measures, brought back the traditional celebrations in the various valleys of Chile… and we celebrate because This 2022 harvest promises high-quality wines!
The grape harvest is undoubtedly the most important milestone of the year in the winemaking process. A date in which, after a year of evolution in the vineyard, Our fruits reach their optimal point of ripeness to be harvested and thus begin a new production. Each year this evolution is different, due to the climatic conditions of each season.
Carlos Cousiño Mery , Agricultural Project Manager, comments that the weather conditions of this 2021-2022 season were “positive for the development of the grapes and allowed us to obtain good yields and very good quality fruit .”

Specifically, this season was characterized by a winter with little rain, a spring with high temperatures and mountain breezes that allowed for homogenized pollination and setting. The summer was hot with a February of moderate temperatures, which allowed for slower ripening of the grapes. “ For Cousiño Macul and for the Maipo Valley, it is a year of very good quality ,” said Cousiño.

Rosario Palma, Chief Winemaker, agrees with the outstanding quality of the wines from this vintage and commented on their main characteristics. “The white wines have Intense aromas of ripe fruit and feel fresh in the mouth. red wines They stand out for their intense colors, fruity aromas and good structure . The tannins are very soft and we see that They will be great wines ,” he said.

Each harvest is a new challenge and our teams work every day to ensure that our wines continue to maintain the quality that characterizes our winery, seeking to always be a a true reflection of its origin: the Maipo Valley.

    Cheers to a new vintage!
